Tuesdays stuff about counter-protest

‘I’m here to recruit you!’

“It takes no compromising to give people their rights. It takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no survey to remove repressions.” – Harvey Milk

Please join us on April 29th at 6am outside Dr Phillips high school, 6500 Turkey Lake rd, Orlando to counter protest against Westboro church’s picketing of the High school (at that time).

Email/blog/twitter and Facebook your friends. Sign up here or on the Facebook counter protest page.

Send a clear message that the church’s  messages of hate are not welcome.

At the counter protest. Stay safe, ignore the church members, use banners, talk to the press. Show who the better party is.  Send a positive message of love and equality.

the center‘The Center’

has a new facebook page

from their wall :- “The Center met with Cent. FL FBI agents and officials from Justice Dept. involving Mathew Shepard/James Byrd Hate Crimes Act. They are taking a pro-active attitude in light of some future hate groups agendas in Central Fl – most notable the Westboro Baptist Church bigots. It was a very informative session in which the FBI expressed a willingness to help educate the GLBT Community on matters involving Hate Crimes.”

SERVE Act could protect military funerals from Westboro church protests

Have a look at the link below, maybe this could pave the way from Westboro church protesting at schools too! If enough stink is raised from them picketting outside educational establishments maybe some nice senator might create a bill for that as well.

The ‘SERVE Act’ (Sanctity of Eternal Rest for Veterans) — would mandate two hours of quiet time before and after funerals, and set a 300-foot buffer zone around the funerals and a 500-foot buffer around routes to and from the memorials.

It sets fines ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, and jail sentences of up to two years.
